John Cardoza
John August Cardoza, 84, of Papaaloa, died Sept. 26, 2019 at his residence. Born Aug. 13, 1935, in Laupahoehoe, he was a retired superintendent for Hamakua Sugar Plantation Company in Hawaii, a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Laupahoehoe and the Hawaii Army National Guard and Reserve.
Friends may call 8-9:30 a.m. Oct. 12 at the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Laupahoehoe. A celebration of life Mass begins at 10 a.m. Casual attire; flowers and lei are welcomed. Burial will follow at the Anthony Catholic Church Cemetery with military honors
He is survived by wife, Estelita Cardoza of Papaaloa; daughters, Sharon (Kevin) Vinluan of Papaaloa, Elizabeth “Liza” Bal of Waikoloa and Leny (John) Andrade of Ahualoa; sons, Jason (Dareth) Cardoza of Kukaiau, Reuben Baldos of Waikoloa and Ronald “Unad (Joelei) Nullar-Baldos of Laupahoehoe; sisters, Stella (Anthony) Botelho of Richmond, Calif., and Virginia (Bobby) Gonsalves of Honokaa; brother, Edward (Perla) Cardoza of San Leandro, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Pacita Bagasane
Pacita “Pat” Paz Bisquera Bagasane, 88, of Hilo, died Sept. 21, 2019, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Aug. 15, 1931, in Hilo, she was a retired housekeeper for the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo.
Private services were held.
She is survived by, daughter, Suzanne (Larry) Nakayama of Hilo; brother, Jesus Bisquera of the Philippines; grandson, Travis (Ginna) Nakayama of Kona.

James Gardner, Jr.
James “Jay” David Gardner, Jr., 58, of Holualoa, died July 27, 2019, at his residence. Born July 16, 1961, in Lincoln, Neb., he was a delivery driver for Napa Auto Parts, worked in the food court at Costco in Kailua-Kona, was an assistant manager for the McDonald Corporation in Nevada, a caregiver at North Bend Nursing Home in North Bend, Wash., and a medic in the U.S. Army.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Oct. 12 at the Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity at the bottom of Lako St. in Kailua-Kona. The family requests casual attire and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity Property Fund.
He is survived by his parents, James, Sr. and Judith Gardner of Holualoa; sister, Vicki (Robert) Farrell of Homer, Alaska; an uncle, two aunts; two nieces and many cousins.

Santos Cabison, Sr.
Santos Cabison, Sr., 86 of Hilo, died Sept. 29, 2019, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born Oct. 16, 1932, in Waialua, he was a retired maintenance worker for the County of Hawaii and he also was a member of United Public Workers Union and the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Friends may call 5-6 p.m. Oct. 16 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel for a 6 p.m. prayer service. Casual attire, flowers and lei are welcomed A graveside service will be held at noon Oct. 17 at the East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 with military honors.
He is survived by daughters, Desiree (Benjamin) Oili and Roxanne Curry of Hilo; sons, Derek (Laurie) Cabison of Waimea, Santos (Deirdre) Cabison, Jr., Vic (Yvette) Cabison and Glen (Roxy) Cabison of Hilo; brother, Raymond Cabison of Hilo; hanai brother, Ernest (Karen) Nonies of Albuquerque, N.M.; sisters, Lorraine (Pedro) Riveira and Rosalina (Rudy) Castales of Waipahu; 19 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister-in-law; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
